Motor City Canoe and Kayak rental opened in Flat Rock in 2016.

Owners Alex Knoch and John Blevins think that Flat Rock is the perfect location combining retro stylings and small town charm.

Alex had canoed and kayaked for years in northern Michigan with the Boy Scouts while growing up.

Later Alex and his friends could not find a canoe or kayak rental south of Ann Arbor,

Alex decided to open a place downriver seeing there was a significant need.

Their location at Atwater in Flat Rock is the perfect entry point.

Patrons can do a short two hour trip to Dodge Park or a longer five hour trip to Lake Erie.

Flat Rock our Home Town is excited to spotlight Motor City Canoe and Kayak, a great addition our business community.

It’s a perfect addition to our downtown and another reason why Flat Rock is quickly becoming a recreation destination downriver.

Alex is only twenty six and now successfully runs other locations after starting in Flat Rock.

During the month of August, Motor City Canoe and Kayak is offering rent one get the other rental half off, Monday thru Thursday.
